Cameras Could Soon Check Whether Your Car Is Insured in Ireland

No Garda stop. No checkpoint. The camera may already know.

The Government is seeking to expand the number of cameras across the country.

They want these cameras to include technology that will not only allow the cameras to detect speeding, but also red light offences, bus-lane violations, tax, NCT, mobile phones, seatbelt and no insurance offences.

These details were revealed in its National Safety Camera Strategy published earlier this year.

This may be the first significant steps towards a surveillance state, where the government knows where you are and what you are doing.

And they won’t need to rely on a static Garda standing at the side of the road any more.

Machines that work 24/7, never rest or go sick will do all that for them.
