In March 2017 Patrick wrote a 2000-word article setting out the manifest problems affecting An Garda Siochana in the light of yet another scandal.

Regrettably, the main issues highlighted in this article -specifically the labyrinthine impenetrability of the promotions regime-are still unaddressed, resulting in worryingly frequent scandals that the taxpayer pays for.
